About MeHi, my name is Cody Schoppe the founder of Project Maynardstang. At the age of three I was diagnosed with a brutal muscle disease called Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Since then, I have participated in walks, telethons, and many other MDA (Muscular Dystrophy Association) events. At one point I was even the area spokesman for MDA. These events inspired me to start my own movement/cause that I call Project Maynardstang (‘Maynard’ is a nickname my dad gave me a long time ago, and ‘Stang’ represents my love for my favorite car, the Ford Mustang.)

Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is a genetic disorder characterized by progressive muscle degeneration and weakness. It is one of nine types of muscular dystrophy. Duchenne is incurable, and it affects all the muscles in the body including the heart and the lungs. It is not common in girls, but in rare cases they can also be affected. Guys affected with Duchenne typically live in to their early 30's, but some have lived to be 40 - 50 years old.

I officially started Project Maynardstang 3 years ago. I decided to take my passion for raising awareness of muscle disease and disabilities in general and combined it with my passion for cars. Project Maynardstang raises funds and awareness for Muscular Dystrophy and the disabled. On Project Maynardstang you will also see car content, Mustang content, Disability content, and Muscular Dystrophy content.
